Hosting and server logs
During the test phase this website is hosted by Vercel Inc. (USA). After that it moves to servers of Mittwald CM Service GmbH & Co. KG in Germany, managed by pronetic GmbH.
Whenever a page is requested, the host processes technically necessary data in server logs: IP address, date and time, the address requested, the amount of data transferred, the referrer, and browser and operating system. This is needed to deliver the website securely and reliably (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs are kept only for as long as this requires.
For the time being, some project images are still loaded from the server of the previous website at maltesimo.design. The same log data is processed there.
No cookies, no tracking
This website sets no cookies, measures no reach and embeds no third-party services. The typeface is loaded from the site’s own server.
Colour scheme
The website follows the light or dark colour scheme of your device. If you switch it using the toggle at the top right, the browser remembers that choice only for the current session (sessionStorage, entry “thema”) and discards it when the tab is closed. This is technically necessary to keep the chosen appearance (§ 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG). The entry is not sent to the server.
Contact by email
If you get in touch by email, I process the details you provide in order to reply (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). The message is deleted once it is no longer needed and no statutory retention periods apply.
Contact form
The form in the footer sends a message directly to me. I process the details entered there – name, email address, message and, optionally, company, role and the service you are interested in – solely to reply to the enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). The message is sent by email to hi@maltesimo.design and also stored on this website’s server. I do not pass the data on to third parties and delete it once the enquiry has been dealt with, at the latest after 24 months, unless statutory retention periods require otherwise. To keep automated submissions out, the form uses a hidden field, a timing check and a limit on submissions per sender; for this purpose the IP address is stored in pseudonymised form (as a keyed checksum that cannot be traced back to the address without that key) for no longer than one hour. During the test phase on Vercel, the button opens your own email app instead; no data is then transferred to this website’s server.
External links
The references to Instagram and LinkedIn are ordinary links, not embedded content. Data is only passed to the respective provider after a click. Their privacy policies then apply.
Rights of data subjects
Data subjects have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), to rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object (Art. 21). An email to hi@maltesimo.design is enough.
There is also a right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Baden-Württemberg.
